THE MAJESTIC CANADIAN ROCKIES

AUGUST 10 - 16, 2025

Join DJP to experience the unparalleled beauty of the Canadian Rockies! We will travel within this UNESCO World Heritage Site visiting three national parks in British Columbia and Alberta — Banff, Kootenay, and Yoho — to give you a unique perspective of this amazing and magical mountain landscape.

There are so many superlatives in this wilderness that we will experience, including the Columbia Icefield, the largest uninterrupted glacial mass in the Rockies. We’ll capture images of high peaks, alpine valleys, aspen groves, and powerful waterfalls. We will also photograph the mesmerizing blue-green color of glacial water at locations like Peyto Lake, Lake Louise, and the famous Moraine Lake in the visually stunning Valley of the Ten Peaks. Our workshop dates coincide with early summer in the Canadian Rockies when the air is cool and refreshing and the winter snows still linger in the high peaks, making our images more striking.

Spend the week immersed in big wilderness and brilliant photography in one of the most stunning mountain ranges on earth!

Overview

Our Workshop begins with a welcome orientation on Sunday at 7:00pm and concludes after our group slideshow on Saturday at 12:00pm.

Each day will be packed with field sessions led by Doug at the best times for shooting, daily lectures to improve your photographic skills and visual seeing, constructive critiques of participants’ images, and open labs for individual assistance. Classroom sessions are tailored to each workshop and are based on participant interests and goals for the workshop. Additional topics are designed to enhance participants’ skills for the type of shooting the location emphasizes.

Location Highlights: We’ll explore amazing landscapes in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, such as Morraine Lake, Vermillion Lakes, Peyto Lake, Takkaka Falls, Emerald Lake, Herbert Lake, Mistaya Falls and Beauty Creek. If the skies are clear we’ll photograph the countless stars and the Milky Way on the shores of Bow Lake with the towering peaks of the Canadian Rockies as a backdrop!
